COORDINATING CENTER RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE IN CASE MANAGEMENT AWARDS FOR PEDIATRIC AND MADICAID CASE MANAGEMENT FROM DORLAND HEALTH

The Coordinating Center was recently named finalist in two categories of the annual Dorland Health, Case in Point competition for case management. The competition is a national one, intended to recognize outstanding achievement in the provision of care coordination in hospitals, health care settings, and the community. As a provider of community care coordination, The Center was nominated for excellence in both the pediatric and Medicaid arenas.

At the May 10 event held at the National Press Club and sponsored by the Dorland Health publications, The Center received the first place honor for its work in pediatric community care coordination. This award was based on the organization’s work among children who have the most challenging health care needs, including dependence on ventilators and other life supporting equipment at home. The keys to The Coordinating Center’s program includes a family centered approach, a commitment to comprehensive coordination of services that results in full community inclusion of children, and innovative tactics to reduce cost and maintain quality.

The Coordinating Center also received Honorable Mention for its efforts in providing care coordination among people who participate in Medicaid. Most of the programs offered through The Center are funded by Maryland Medicaid and they are designed to provide the supports that people with the most challenging needs must have to thrive at home and in their communities.

The Coordinating Center’s pediatric care coordination program has also been recognized as a best pracitce by the American Association of Pediatrics. The organiation’s care coordination program is accredited throughURAC, a national accreditaion organization.
