Meet Robert

Robert Painting
“Meredith is welcoming, knowledgeable, and constantly on top of things – she will always be a strong advocate for me,”

From comedian to meditator to artist, Robert is a true creative force with countless talents. He lives life through vibrant expressions of creativity, constantly exploring new ways to share his unique perspective. One of the most remarkable? He creates stunning works of art—using only his mouth.

After a severe spinal cord injury left him paralyzed, Robert lost the use of his hands—including the ability to hold a paintbrush. Everyday tasks became significant challenges. Yet despite these obstacles, Robert continues to adapt and thrive, using his creativity and determination to express himself in extraordinary ways.

Robert has been receiving services from The Coordinating Center for 12 years. Through the Community First Choice Program, he is able to live in his own. while also receiving assistance with his wheelchair, medication, and equipment expenses—resources he wouldn’t otherwise have access to.

Robert has found many ways to channel his obstacles into inspiration and individuality. He spoke highly of an international organization, Mouth and Foot Painting Artists, that allows artists with disabilities to showcase their work. Robert is proud to be featured in the American artists section of this organization and has been a student member since 2012.

Robert’s list of accomplishments extends into the world of comedy, where—he regularly performs on social media platforms and popular venues, including Magooby’s Joke House and Wits End Saloon, and more.

Expanding his creativity into a new form of hands-free expression, Robert recently developed a meditation app, called KA-CHI-MASTERS. He also authored the book: Life! It Must Be a Comedy, which is available on Amazon.

“A key thing about meditation is that it really helps people create their dreams and heal,” said Robert.

With a busy day to day, Robert’s grateful for Meredith, his Supports Planner at The Coordinating Center who is always there to support him by providing resources, scheduling medical appointments or simply being someone he can count on. He encourages others considering The Coordinating Center, to connect with a coordinator they feel comfortable with and can easily turn to for help.

“Meredith is welcoming, knowledgeable, and constantly on top of things – she will always be a strong advocate for me,” said Robert.

One song that plays a prominent role in Robert’s life is “Victorious” by The Scores. This song is played before Robert goes up on the comedy stage or while he creates his artwork. It holds an impactful message which highlights how “there is no such thing as consequences since everything is synchronized,” said Robert.

Robert channels the optimism, peace, and clarity he gains from his artistic practices into every part of his life, continuing to grow while inspiring those around him.
