The Coordinating Center Joins the National #GivingTuesday Movement to Encourage Spending with a Purpose

MEDIA RELEASE

The Coordinating Center has joined #GivingTuesday, a first of its kind, effort that will harness the collective power of a unique blend of partners to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.

Through social media, The Coordinating Center is encouraging individuals to make donations to its Family Resource Fund. Begun by co-workers who were concerned about infants leaving hospitals who did not have the necessary cribs and nursery items, the Family Resource Fund was first known as the Crib Fund. It now provides the families we serve with assistance in purchasing one item or service, including medical equipment, car seats, mattresses for children, eye glasses, security deposits for apartments and assistance with utility bills.

#Giving Tuesday is a national day of philanthropy driven through media channels. Started by the 92nd Street Y’s interim CEO Henry Timms, #Giving Tuesday marks the opening day for the end-of-the-year giving season, much like Black Friday and Cyber Monday marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season.

All donations made via The Coordinating Center’s website, www.coordinatingcenter.org between December 3 and December 31 will go to the Family Resource Fund. For more information about the fund, visit https://www.coordinatingcenter.org/make-a-coordinating-center-donation/.
